‘THE DELHI COMMUNICATION PROJECT:A VIDEO INTERVENTION” is a documentary that grew out of an effort to use video to create some understanding between people in a small town in Upstate New York with sharply opposing views of the Iraq war. The Saturday morning anti- and pro-war gatherings on both sides of Main Street in Delhi, NY were becoming increasingly contentious. Individuals from each camp were interviewed one Saturday, and edited compilations of their statements were shown to the other “side.” Finally, a mediated discussion between both groups was held in a local Church and some weeks later a number of participants were interviewed about their reactions to the experience. The program documenting this process was shown on Public Television Station WSKG-TV in Binghamotn, New York. It was awarded the New York Emmy for 2005 in the category of Social Concerns.
